The iconic statue of Sir Walter Scott sitting with his dog Maida at the Scott Monument off Princes Street, Edinburgh, Scotland. The statue was designed by John Steel and the monument by George Meikle Kemp and was completed in 1846,14 years after Scott's death. Scott was a prolific writer and poet, a friend of Scotland's national Bard, Robert (Rabbie) Burns.
