Cramalt Viewpoint at Megget Reservoir_0876_5D2

The viewpoint on Megget reservoir north of the main dam, has a partial reconstruction of one of the two towers that once stood proud in the valley, now flooded.

The Megget valley was once the rich hunting grounds for King James V of Scotland in 15th Century and which the submerged ruins of Cramalt Tower and ancient stronghold now lies deep below the surface.

A partial reconstruction of the floor plan and spiral staircase of the original tower sits beside the two tourist information boards.
